Fagus sylvactica United Kingdom - A D
One of the most widely used timbers in the UK by the furniture industry.
Being strong and straight grained it is easy to work in both turning and for furniture.
Colour varies from light to dark brown and it stains easily.

STEAMED BEECH Germany KD
Fagus sylvactica
This is European White Beech which is steamed to a mellow pink colour. The steaming process equalises the colour of the boards making them easier to work.
Available at present in 1" thickness only from 4" to 12" widths

This timber is from a tree which has lain in the log for some time after felling. A fungus occurs which grows to form black and brown markings.
